Mr WardcH, secretarv of the Victoriaii Country Press Association, said lie had never heard any complain,!* from the country papers regarding the mannji in winch they were rerved by the Australian Cable Association.. It was the land charges which were objected to.
On being asked if his aecociation had ever considered the question of establishing an oversea news distribution agency. th 3 witness replied that-Mt had never dons so officially. The expense would be too great. It cost over £3000 to get cablegrams, irrespective of (he cost of employing men. Even if a large number of paper* took the. cablegrams his company could never compete against the Australian Cable Association.
