GLENROY SABBATH SCHOOL.

Tho pretty little Primitive Methodist. Church at Glenroy was packed last night on tho occasion of tho fifth Sabbath school annU.il soiree. The Rev. G. Knowies Smith, of the Dundas Street Church, presided, and wi address was delivered by the Hev. J. B. Suckling, the pastor at Opoho. Tho Superintendent (Mr D. Bethune) road the fifth atuual report, which stated, inter alia, that the school had made a steady in* crease in all departments. There were on the roll 74 scholarsr-an increase of fivo over last year. Tliero arc on tho stalf eight workers, and under tho able superintendent (Mr D. Bethune) very good work has been done. During the year u new library room had been built, and 50 new books added to the library, making a total of over 15(1 books. 11l connection with this work thanks were accorded to Messrs Andrew King, Alf. Iving, Walter King, U. W. Wilkinson, 8. A. Sheen, and the superintendent (Mr D. Bethune) for contributions of material and labour, and to tin trustees for generously presenting. tlio proceeds of tho harvest thanksgiving to tho work. The new room has proved a great convenience, 'especially to Miss Bruoe, who has charge of the infant class. The Missionary League did good work during the year, ajid several sums were collected and sent to various homes, including: Home missions, £1 Is; Dr Barnardo's Homes, £2; Bamardo's New Hospital Fund, £1 Is; P. M. Orphanage, Harrogate, £2 ss; Hospital Saturdav Fund, £1 Is; New Library Fund, £1 Is. Tlicr* are upwards of 40 prizes this year, including 18 for attendance at morning church. Some o£ these latter were presented by members of the congregation, to whom heartfelt thanks are accorded. Financially, the school is not quite as well oft' as last year. There are many good reasons in explanation of this. Tho school needs help at present in the way of new teachers. Mr' Smith is introducing a now system of grading, and this w.ll necessitate ths services of more teachers.

The balance sheet showed the income for the-year, to be £40 16s 6d, and the expendit 2 ' ' eav ' n o a balanco of JtlS ios 10id. The Rev. G. Ivnowles Smith gave an interesting address on the Sunday school teacher and his work. I-Ie said that there was nothing easier 'than destructive criticism, and_ no class of tho community was more subject lo ,t than the Sunday school teachers. He often wondered that alone with the many strikes they had in various occunations tlioy had not had one amon" tho Sunday school teachers. Still, lie would eay, in snito of the criticism that they were subjected to, thero was seldom a withdrawal from the work. They could easily find for themselves if they were fitted for the work by asking themselves the question, " Why fin I a Sunday school teacher?" Before taking up tins great work they should search their hearts and see it they were really qualified. Several songs, solos, choruses, and other "ST BKtg.% titV'f 'ft "if '«««• "ft Bauehop. 11.
