AMUSEMENTS.

HIS MAJESTY'S THEATRE. Mr Harry Riekards's Company attracted another large audience to His Majesty's Theatre last night, when the opening programme was submitted for tho last time. A change of programme will be given this evening, Mr Fred Graham and Miss Nellie Dent will bo seen in a new sketch entitled Married a. Day," whilf several new songs and dances wjlj also be included in the new programme. The company will terminate the Dunedin season'on Saturday night, and will leave for Melbourne on the following day. On Saturday a- special matinee performance will be given at 2.30 p.m. PRINCESS THEATRE. The excellent programme that has kept tho stage at the Princess Theatre during the past week wa6 presented for the last time last night, and fully deserved the liberal patronage it received. Fullers' Pictures are, however, quite kaleidoscopo in their variety, consequently to-night a new programmo will be presented. This will contain some splendid specimens of cinematography. The Melbourne Cup will be shown from start to finish, including the parade of the horses, the start of the great race, its progress, and the finish with Prince Pooto in the lead, also tho crowds that thronged tho stands and enclosures. "Resurrection " is a picturo which is adapted from one of Count Tolstoy's powerful novels and of which report speaks in very high terms. An historic picture dealing with the escape of a French count from the condemned cell. " A trip through Bombay," n,nd one of the famous Nick Carter dctective serie3 may be mentioned in order to give an indication of what is to be expected'. Humorous films will as usual fortn a fair proportion of tho whole, so that the new programme should prove a very worthy one.

HIGH STREET SCHOOL BAZAAR. A bazaar.will be held 1 in connection with tho above school to-day awl to-morrow to raise funds for the erection of swimming baths for the school. The object will no doubt appeal to tho residents and parents of the children, as the benefits to be derived from having a swimming bath at tho school am far-reaching. A strong ladies' committee has been at work for some months pa6t making up all kinds of useful articles, and these will bo disposed of at very reasonable prices. Tho bazaar will consist of work stalls, refreshment, lolly, produce, flower, and doll stalls, besides dips for tho children. The bazaar will be opened by his Worship the Mayor this afternoon at J o'clock, a.nd will be open in the afternoons and evenings. Admission will tm free during the afternoons, and adults 6d and children 3d in tho evenings. The Mornington, Band will contribute items in tho evening, and items will also be supplied by pupils of the school. It is anticipated tho residents will show their sympathy bv giving tho bazaar their patronage.

PALESTINE AND IRELAND. There was a very large audience in the Town Hall, South Dunedin, last qveninjr, when the Rev. Father O'Sullivan, S.M.A., delivered the last of his series of lectures, the subject being " Palestine and Ireland." The Rov. Father O'Malley presided, and expressed his satisfaction at the large number present. The views shown by the leaturer numbered nearly 300, and included nearly every object of interest in Ireland and Palestine. Their appearance on the screen,, together with the word-paintin" and anecdotes of the lecturer, evoked" the heartiest applause. The colouring of the Irish views, which "had' passed through the hands of some of the best artists in London was specially admired.
