FURTHER CONDEMNATION.

INVERCARGILL, November 16. Invercargill merchants are strongly of the opinion that the operation of the 1 per cent, primage duty is unnecessarily cumbersome, and shoiild be modified iii some way. At- meeting of the Chamber of Commerce this afternoon a resolution was carried asking that the Government take steps to produce the amount of revenue required by levying a surtax on one clas# of only, or, failing that, make a provision whereby the piinnge on <;ooi:ls might-lie collected immediately onlbir arrival in the Dominion.
