VOICE FROM THE PAST,
(Fboh Our Own Corbespondekt.)
WELLINGTON, November 17. In the course of his speech this afternoon Mr Fisher produced a scrap-book, and read some extracts from tho' Teport of an address on the iand question whioh was delivered by the present Minister of Education at Duncdin a few years ago. Mr Fowlda, according to theso extracts, was a confirmed leaseholder in those days. " Tlte very idea of selling land is an absurdity " ■wos one sentence, whilst another was "The Government have no more right to sell a piece of God's land than they have to sell a section in the hoaveas." Mr Fowlds also said on that occasion that it tlte Crown tenants were to be given the right of the freehold the same right' should 'be given to the tenants of educational endowments. Mr Fisher eaid that it would be interesting to know whether tho Minister of Education was still of that opinion.
Mr Fowlds, who had entered the Chamber as Jlr Fisher was speaking, did JK>t make any reply to tho query.
