LONDON, November 15.
Mr Winston Churchill, speaking at the Cojlslon bniKjiict, said that the Lords wished to escape, the Budget and destroy the Government; hence thoy had resolved to violate the Constitution in a manner which, if thej succeeded, would leave them the predominant authority in the State.
THREE ISSUES. SPEECH BY MR BIRR ELL. LONDON, November 16. (Received Nov 16, at 10.55 p.m.) The Hon. A. Bin-ell, speaking at Llandudno, ascribed the Lords' ■attitude towards th'o Budget to their being drunk villi the new- wine of tariff reform. If the Budget was rejected the Government would go to the country in January on a threefold 'ssuc—namely, the future position of the Houso of 'Lords, the control of the finances by the House of Commons, and opposition to tases on food, with the question of the position of the "Lords" first foremost.
