Y.M.C.A. FOOTBALL CLUB. The 1 report of the committee contains these clauses:— In presenting our annual report we can liardiy congratulate ourselves oil the positions attained by our two teams during the season of 19Q3. Our matches were marr-ed by several accidents, mid resignations and transfers coming as they did ill quick succession cut very deeply into our all too small membership. Coming to the playing sea-son, we started off very well, hut soon fell off among the backrankers The reasons for our positions are very old ones—via,, lock of training and want of enthusiasm. However, we made a beginning, and. tints one big obstacle has been surmounted. After the actual season was over we played and entertained several teams, one of which entertained us in return. Our first annual social was held during the year, mid turned out a great success, For next season we have been fortunate enough to secure the services of a very able coach, and we trust that members will avail themselves of the benefit of his services. Our finances, while not too sound, must be regarded as fairly satisfactory. Had members paid their subscriptions a handsome credit, balance, and not a small debit balance, would have been the result. Wo trust that members will not be slow to recognise this fact, and will hasten to place our finances on a sound footing. In olosing we must express our thanks to the Dimediu Club for the use of room, at the Caledonian Ground, and also to our general secretary for his kind donation of a modal for the coming season. KOSLYN FOOTBALL CLUB. The following is the commtitee's report: In presenting the twenty-first annual report your committee regrets thnt it cannot congratulate the club 011 having completed a successful season. Xumerically the strength of the club is much decreased, and instead of placing five teams in tho field, as in the previous year, only two teams were entered for the O.F.A.'s competitions, neithor of which succeeded in gaining the coveted premiership honours. The results are as follow:—First Grade: Played 12 matches, won 3. lost 8, drawn 1. Second Grade: Played 10, won 0, drawn 2. The club was represented in the Brown Challenge Shield competition by Mr If, Kite hie. At tho annual meeting ot tlie club the trophies won during the previous, season were presented to the various players. Mr W. Dow won the gold medal presented by Mr L. Kenmitz, and Messrs E. Aiicheson, J. M'Xeill, and' J. Iveihr salver medals with gflld centres. Messrs A. .51; Molli'son and W. B. Harlow, ex-captains of the club, were recipients of handsome presents, to mark the occasion of their marriages, and Jlt E. Bannerman, the club's delegate to the Otago Foot bull Association, prior to his departure for tJie A'ortli Island, was presented with a shaving outfit. Owing to the poor response from the olub's members it was found to be inadvisable to hold the annual dance, and this function was reluctantly abandoned. This is a matter for extreme regret, inasmuch as the Hoslyn Football Club's annual social has been regarded as one of the events of the year, and this is the first occasion for many years that the social side of the club's work has been in any way lacking. The wont of a club room for training purposes is still badly felt. The members have no opportunity of getting to kr.ow cach other personally or of l«i ruing their style of play, while want of " condition" told heavily in some of the games, played by the club. The need of training cannot bo too strongly emphasised, Jind your committee hopes to see this portion of the chib s football in full swing during the coming season, being confident that the position of each team will be much improved thereby. Financially the club is quite us sound as it has been during the past few years, as will bo seen by the treasurer's statement there is a ba-lanco of receipts over expenditure for tho year. The thanks of the members are due to the office-bearers of the club for their interest in tho club's welfare and donations to the funds, to the press for reports of the matches and items of the club's progress, to the Referees' Club for supplying referees for the various matches, and Messrs G. J. Booklass and Jas. Tiley for representing the club on tho O.F.A. Committee and ihe O.P.A. Schools Committee respectively.
