CRIME IN IRELAND
MURDER OF A CONSTABLE,' SUSPECT RELEASED. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, February 28. A su.spr.ct who was arrested at G'raughvell, on a charge of murder on January 23, has been released.
The crime referred to above was committed on the estate of the Marquis of Clanncardo, al; * Crauglnvell, in Galway. Two emergency men, under the protection of Const able -M 'Gold rick, woro engaged in broad daylight rebuilding the walls of n- farm on tlio estate from wliich the tenant had been evicted, when Ihev were tired at, both receiving gunshot wounds. T.ie assailants were behind a hedge, and ran after firing the shots. Constable M'Goldrick pursued them, and "ley turned and shot him dead. Subsequently :i blacksmith and two farmers were arrested on suspicion of bavin" been concerned ill the shooting. During a division of land at Peterswell, n. neighbouring village, anothe'policeman was the victim of \-i o le„ ce \ quarrel occurred among tho tenants,' and the policeman intervened, and in a inoleo Coghlan reenived a blow which nurtured his skull. One arrest resulted from this incident.
