liaroii .lames Patrick l!annerman Robertsot! was the holder of a li-fe peerage efeatod in 18S9. He was a Privy Councillor. K.C., -M.A., LL.I)., anil D.lj., and a Lord of Awpeal since 1899. Roru in 1845. he was admitted to the SoQUish Bar in 1867, and btxr.inie ().('. in 18S5. Hp was Solicitorgeneral for Scotland in 1885-6 and 1886-8, and Lord Advocate ISB3 91. ]le became M.l\ for Buteshire in 1885, and continued so till 1591, lie w»s also Lord Rector o( Edinburgh University in 1893-96.
