BRIGHTON RAILWAY LEAGUE.
A meeting of the BriglitcJh Railway League was held in the Sehoolhouse on Tuesday evening, and was attended by the Kev. D. K. Fisbor (chtiirman). Messrs John Davcy, S. Jjoiib, John Mee, A.. Dirties, John Wright, D. M'Coll, sen., Ilnglt M'Coll, A. Phillips, H. Walker. Joseph Polaschek, 1). M'liitoshf and W. 11. Lobb. V rho league's concert and dance, held on December 29, showed the total receipts to be £11 Bs. The subject of the proposal mooted at a meeting previously held at Brighton to advocate the construction of a new road from the Kaikorai bridge to Green Island was considered in connection with ils bearings towards railway extension to tho district, when the following resolution bv Messrs J. Pokschok and W. 11. ' wis unanimously carried:—"That this" league is of opinion thai; railway extension to Brighton should take precedence of all other proposals, and that tho lion. Thomas Mael;enzio, member for the district, be communicated with, urging him to take tho initial stops towards obtaining this object. *' A vote of thanks was passed to the Hon. Mr Mackenzie for his patronago to tho league's concert.
