SCHOOL COMMITTEE MEETINGS.

The meeting of the St. Clair School Committeo last night was attended by Messrs •I. 13. Waters (chairman), (J. Ruhen, 8. F. Sherwood, D. S. .Toily, A. 0. Brebner, and •f. H. Hancock (secretary). It-' n*as decitlixl that the committee should place on record and forward to Mi Fitzgerald its appreciation of his bug and a bio services in the interests of education. The Head Master reported that the school reopened with 105 pupils, a considerable number not yet having returned from their holidays. The Works C'omnmlee reported that in tlx: holiday recess the school had l>cen renovated and the playground asphalted. At last night's meeting of the Musselburgh School Committee there were prosent— Messrs J. Harris (chairman), D. C. Cameron, H. 11. Ewing, A. Walker, E. Broad. J. G. Robertson, G. F. Moilison, antl W. Jacobsen (secretary). The resignation of Mr Howes from the committee was received with regret, and Mr Wilson, who was next on the list at the householders' poll, was appointed to the vacancy The Head Master reported thai Did school opened with 307 pupils, including 36 who came for the iirst time, and ho expected further acromions during the week. Ir the matter of an exchange of flairs with the Musselburgh School. Scotland, it was decided to procure a 10ft 6in flag, and to have it enclosed in a tjox made of New Zealand wood, baring a, plate suitably inscribed. The Visiting Committee for the onsuircg month is Messrs Mollison and Broad.
