Sir Wilfrid Laurie;- attributed tho Conservatives' successes in British Columbia to Sir F. W. I'.orden. the Opposition leader, telegraphing Ihe following:— "The Conservative parly stands for a White (.'nmidii. for the protection of white labour, ami (he absolute exclusion of Asiatics." Sir F. W. Boi<leu denied the statement, and explaiutd that he simply telegraphed tu a newspaper that the patty favoured a While Canada and the absolute protection of whita labour. He had asked for an explanation from the newspaper as to how the Udegratn had been altered, and he j promised to report the fads.
