A. AND P. SHOWS.

; ' WALLACE. (Faon Ous Ow.v Corbespondent.) INVERCARGILL, November 25. The fifth annual show of tho Wallace A. and I*. Association was hold to-day under most favourablo conditions. Tho weather coidd not have been nioro delightful, and thoro was a record attendance. The sum of £62 being taken at tho gate. A comparison of tho catalogue with that of tho previous year shows n decrease in entries of 48, but it may be mentioned that, last .year's entries constituted a record for tho association, being 200 in excess of those of tho 1906 show. Tho entries for to-day's exhibition exceed tho most sanguine hopes of the association, considering the bad 6«asoii espd'hiccd hero and tho fact that four of tho largest exhibitors at previous shows have recently loft the district. As usual, tho display of horses was the main feature, and these wero fully up to the high standard of excellence for which tlio Western district is noted. ' Remarking on the quality of tho draughts generally, Mr James Small, ono of the judges, said that they wore tho best he had yet seen. He had attended nine shows this season,' including Ghristchureh, Ashburton, and 1 unaru, and be bad seen nothing to compare with to-day's display',of heavy horses. The mares and fillies especially' were a splendid lot right through,! and many of tho unplaced ones would have carried off red tickets at northern shows this season. .Tho champion certificate for the best draught. entire, was awarded to Messrs ' Ford and Poolo's Garthland's Pride (Garth-land-Blossom), a. splendid three-year-old with a shade of the old stamp in liin\ and a' lot of quality. The champion marc, Miss Kelvin, owned by Mr John M'Fnrlane, stood out by herself, her main points being evenness and beautiful movement. Among the light horses tho hackney and 'harness classes wero well represented, and brought out somo very stylish animals. The entry of cattle was not large, but the quality, taken all round, left little to bo desired. ' Mr G. Anderson showed some splendid shorthorns, his champion bull, Lord Raglan, being a particularly fine .animal. In sheep, Border was tho strongest .class, and the mpst successful exhibitor was Mr John M'Crostie. Mr A. W. Rogers, jun, Mr Jas. Grant, and Mr Arthur Allison were prominent in tho Romney Marsh section, and crossbreds were well represented bv Mr W. Kennedy and Mr James Ryan. Dairy produce was ' /ne of the features of the show, and competition was very keen. The judges expressed themselves well pleasedi with tho quality of tho exhibits all round, and experienced somo difficulty in selecting thewinners. Tho proceedings passed oh* without a hitch, tho arrangements being excellent, and reflected great credit on the secretary, Mr John Fishor. Following is the prize list:— HORSES. Judges: Messrs H.
