The official count of the licensing vote in the Ditnedin fckraOi district was concluded yesterday. Monk, man for the latter. In an interview with a credible authority to-day, a Wdirarapa Age reporter was informed that it was absolutely certain that , a petition would be lodged, on behalf of the heensad victuallers of the electorate, to declare the local option poll at Mastcrton invalid. The. grounds for tlio application were not divulged to the pressman, who was informed that they would not be available to the public until the return from Wellington of Mr C. A. Pownall, solicitor for the licensed victuallers, who is away on supreme Court business. The official recount for Ashburton gives: Kesloration, 3071 voles, and non-restoration 2611. The number of valid votes was 5682. Ecstorntion was therefore not carried.
