There are over 20,000 papers to bo gone through, and it,is expected that Thursday morlijng will see the task completed. Mr Maxwell, tho returning officer, extended lo lioth the No-licenso parly and the Licensed Victuallers' Association the privilege of, being in atlendance during the proceedings. Mr G. 1). Nicholls appeared on behalf of the former party and Mr G. llaydon on behalf of the. latter. Up to cloning time' yesterday about 8000 papers had been dealt with, Yesterday morning the seamen's votes were opened ami counted, with the following results:— Continuance, 111; reduction, 12; no-license, 3?,; informal, 4; number of valid voles, .140. Added to the figures announced on Tuesday night, the figures at present stand: — Continuance, 8668; reduction, 10,718; nolicense, 11,541; informal, 289; valid votes, 20,418.
