SATISFACTORY PROGRESS. (Fri United Pbrs.i Association.) AUCKLAND, October 30. The Government Poultry Eipert (Mr Hyde), who is at present on a visit to hhe Auckland province, expresses himself as highly pleased until the' progress which tho poultry industry is making in tho north, and considers the outlook for the coming season to bo extremtfy hopeful. Dismissing poultry-fanning as an interesting and remunerative occupation.for women, Mr Hyde considers that while mamil labour ia necessary in connection with tho heavier part of the work, there aw many branches of tho, industry for which women are eminently fitted, more particularly in tho supervision of tho incubators and brooders. At Matakann, for instance, a most successful farm of 500 birds is run by a woman on lip-to-dale and remunerative lines.
