(From Oup, Own Correspondent.) ' GREYMOUTII, October 29. The New Alpine mine manager reports for the week ended October 27. as follows: — " During the week the winch in No. 10 chu-inbc-r was shifted back on to new foundations, the contractors putting tho guides in on the 22nd inst. Preparations wore completed for cutting the chamber for No. 11 level on the 25i\l ii»t. A start was made by tho now contractor to cut the chamber, etc., on tho 12 a.m. shift on Saturday, and good progress is boiny made with the fame. | We have been using hand steel so far, but ' cx|K>ct to make a start with the reck drill to-morrow. Various outside works are in progress, ■ and everything is proceeding smoothly and well."
