The Japanese boy, K, Sando, who de« sertad from the tramp steamer Mortlake a couple of weeks ago, was again brought before the Lyltelton Police Court morning, charged with having unlawfully deserted from the vessel. who comes within the provisions of the act dealing with undesirable and prohibited immigrants, was convicted on the charge of desertion and wn.s ordered to be handed over to the agents of the Mortlake, whohave undertaken to have him delivered on board the vessel, which is at present at Newcastle. Sando will be sent away • in the Moeraki, which leaves for Sydnet .this afternoon.
