THE TAIERI SEAT: MR MACKENZIE'S CANDIDATURE.

Sir, — I The Taieri electors were treated to a forceful speech from Mr Thcs. Mackenzie at Mosgicl on Friday night last, and although it is impossible for everybody to see eye to eye with him in all Iris views, the concensus of opinion is that he is the man required for tho district. Despite tho " back-scratching" (.hat is associated with political meetings when reference is made to. past representatives, it is fcJt by most peoplo that, notwithstanding their political views, tho previous membars for the district have not been strong men in any sense of the word. Mr Mackenzie is a powerful and broad-minded individualist, a, man with opinions and a will, and sufficient backbone and moral courage to hack them up. • Mr Mackenzie's long experience, combined with his other excellent qualities, will stand liim in good stead on election day, and I am confident that tho Taieri will rise to tho occasion and return liim bv a sweeping majority, worthy of the district and tho man.—l am, etc., Elector. Mo6giel, October 25.
