HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS.

The twiee-poatponcd sports or the Otago Boys' H-igli Schc-ol wore hold in glorious weather at the Carisbrook Grounds yester day afternoon, and boys, masters, friends, and visitors had every reason for congratulation on the very signal success that markod t-lio whole affair. The events, 40 in number, wore all interesting; the races were run well and in that spirit of wholesome rivalry for which the scholars are noted. The form, of the athletes was most crcditablc, especially when the fact of their training being broken on account of rho postponements is considered. Unfortunately these postponements were responsible for the Old Boys' races not coming off, as yesterday an examination at the University prevented t-lie attendance of many would-be competitors. In school sports the interest- generally ocntres on the winner of "The Mile," which 011 this occasion was carried off in good style by Denniston, with a syds handicap., Tho time was smin 27 l-ssee, the standard being sinin 4Cteec and (he school record 4min 59 3-ssee. Tho Potato, Three-legged, and Obstacle races wore, as usual, provocative ,of hilarity. Mrs Morrcll, wife of tho rector, was in charge of the tea pavilion, and was assisted by several ladies.
