RAVENSBOURNE BOATING CLUB

The annual meeting of the Kavensbourne Boating Club was held in the boating shed' last evening, Mr H, K. Mollor (commodore) occupied the chair, and there was.a good attendance of members, apologies for absence being received from Messrs Barker and Harridgc. In moving the adoption oi the animal report, the Chairman said the club was to be congratulated upon tho success achieved during tho past season. The AYaimana had l won the championship of the harbour, nnd her win reflected great credit upon her owners and the club to which she belonged. Speaking candidly, ho was not eo well satisfied with the conduct ol members as ho would like to be. Members had been very careless in mailers pertaining to the upkeep of the boating shed, and he could not Foilgratulute them upon the manner in which they had neglected tho club's property. The behaviour of some of the members came in for some very caustic remarks, tho Chairman remarking that if complaints continued to be heard similar to those hehad been pained to hear certain members would have to be cxpelkd from the club. The latter depended almost entirely upon the kindness of resident;?, and as toon as their patronage was withdrawn the club would cease to exist. Mcmbcis would have to see to it that no further cause of complaint could in future be directed against the club. Mr 10. Kellet seconded the adoption of tho report, and endorsed the remarks of tho chairman, who had, in his opinion, rather understated the facte. If what he had heard was true, gambling had been going on for some time. If so, it would have to bo stopped at once.—(A member: "It's not true.") Mr Kellet remarked that if it were not true the rumour was current in the district, and members should avoid giving any cause for any such rumour. The report was then adopted unanimously. The election of officers for tho ensuing year resulted as follows:—Commodore, Mr H. E. Mollor (re-elected); vice-commodorca -Messrs AV. Gruitt, W. T. Barker, A. Montgomery, and J. Blackic; captain, Mr T. Bolton; deputy captain. Mr E. French; lion.treasurer, Mr K. M'Oullough; auditeas, Messrs E. Kellet ami W. T. Barker; delegates to Otago Yacht and Motor Boat Club-Messrs T. Blackio, W. Gruitt, T. Harridgc; delegate to Otago' Athletic Societies' Protection Society, Mr E. M'Cullough; Genera.' Committee—Messrs A. Gallon, E. Kellet, A, French. ,T. Moulin, R. M'Clinlock, A. Grant, S. Smith, J. Bairtl, G. Keller.' The Chairman suggested that the club should consider the advisability of paying the secretary a fee of £5 per annum, and after some discussion this was carried, and Mr. C. George was unanimously elected/ to the position. ' A somewhat long discussion ensued as to the necessity for increasing the amount of members' subscriptions from 5s for senior mcmbcis'and 3s for junior members, and it was finally resolved to make no change. Ilie Chairman said ho had a strong suspicion that a few of the members had not yet paid their subscriptions. The balance sheet would bo dealt with at next meeting, and all those in arrears would be struck off the hooka. Any member who did not pay his subscription'was a nuisance to the club generally, -and should' not be tolerated. 11ns matter would, have to bo dealt with vigorously by the incoming officers. A motion to debar junior members from voting was lost on the voices, and tho nicoting closed with a vote of thanks to the retiring offieora.
