NO-LICENSE AFFIRMATION LOSI.(Per United Press Association.) CHRBTCHURCH, October 26. The debate on the no-license question was resmned at the Ohristehurcji Diocesan Synod this afternoon. The, following motion, proposed by Ven. Archdeacon Averill, was carried:—"That this Synod, while- unable on the evidence at present before it to express any authoritativo or unanimous opinion on the relative merits of license ard no-license, wolcomes every legitimate effort to decrease the manydeplorable evils due to intemperance in the use of alcolwlic liquors, and commends the whole matter to' the, earnest and careful consideration of (ill church people <>f the dioces-e." '. The Rcy. Mr Mathias then moved— " i.hat this Synod conunends no-license ns the only available remedy at the present time for the gravo and increasing evils of intemperance." After discussion, .the proposal was lost, the voting being ,-us follows:—Ayes:' Clergy, 12; hit)- 13. Noes: Clergs 27; "' laity, 10.
