Aftor the suspension 0 f the Standin K Orders Mr Holmes moved, awl Mr Pardington. seconded-" That the former resolution be rejcindod. and tho council vote £55 towards the cost of entertainng the American fleet." Moody, GhnficM, stoupe, and tolrfdge voted for tho amendnwuf. whilo Jlossrs Holmes and Emdington declared in favour of a-thancing the £55. The Mayor (Mr John itowe) and Messrs Whyto and Morton, were unavoidably absent. A rough estimate for the establishment of a Dental Hospital at Auckland was placed before yesterdays meeting of the Hospital aiKl Charitable Aid Board. In tlte first place, four rooms oontn&y situatcd are required. The equipment for *wo surgeons ami laboratory wa* estimated to cost £>75; plumbing, £3Q; and '-furnishing £25,-malrjhg- a total of £230. The annual outlay was estimated to involve £200 for a resident dentist, £52 for a lady attendant £100 for rent, and £15 for cleaning,—making a total of £36T. Tho cost of material would probably bo met by few. Consideration of the matter was deferred till a future meeting.
