CURLING AT NASEBY.
(Pkom Our Owh Correspondent.) NASEBY, July 31. Our correspondent at Nascby " writes under yesterday's date:-Curling is now in full string. The season was formally opened on Tuesday last, when the president's match was played, two rinks from each of the three local clubs participating, tho Otago Centra! Club winning. On Wednesday morning, at 9 o'clock, the "roaring" game was continued, when iho Baxter Cup was played for and won by the Mount Ida Club. After a short interval for lunch, the three dubs played for the Naseby Curling. Council's trophy, the Otago Central winning. On Thursday a great match was played for the Hon. T. Fergus's trophy— a, gold St. Andrew cross. Two rinks from each club took part. The game was intensely exciting, at half-time nearly every rink standing at 11 points each. The "trophy was eventually won by the Naseby Club, witr? the ecoro of 40, Otago Central 38, with the Mount Ida Club well up with 35 points. Yesterday morning play again commenced at 9 o'clock for Dr Macknight's trophy.
