SUDDEN DEATHS

A painfully sudden death gccurred at the Duncdin Hospital on Tuesday night, a few minutes after 10 o'clock, when Mary Black, a housemaid at tlio institution, fell down, as the result of a heart seizure, and expired very shortly afterwards. Deceased had supper with a companion at 10 p.in. in the institution, and was talking and joking with tlio other servants. Directly afterwards sho complained of feeling ill and giddy, and fell down. She was promptly removed to her room by one of tlio mirso3, awl restoratives were applied, but she expired before Dr Falconcr, who hurried to the spot, could render ally assistance. Deceased, who was 31 years of age, had been employed at the Hospital as housemaid for 10 months, and was cheerful and apparently in good general health. Dr Roberts, who made a post mortem examination, found that death was due to heart affection. Twelve months previously deceased had a similar scizuro, v/hen sho was attended by Dr Newlands. At an inquest at the Hospital on Wednesday George Alexander Black, a brother of deceased, and Kliza Thompson, housemaid, gave evidence that deceased sometimes complained of giddiness and siek turns. Deceased, who was 27"years of age, rose from bed at 3 a.m., and complained of being ill, and look" a fainting fit, from which she never recovered, dying almost immediately afterwards. Dr' Riley, who was called in, found life extinct. An inquest was held at the Morgue yesterday, before Mr C. C. Graham (coroner), and Dr Riley deposed that the result of a post mortem showed that death resulted from heart failure. A verdict, in accordance with the medical testimony was returned.
