Mr Rufus Isaacs, K.C., eearchingty cross-examined Mr Solly Joel (the prosecutor) regarding an allegation that in 1902 ho had offered Mr Markham, a member of the House of Commons, the sum .of £10,000 to suppress his question in the Houae relative to his (Joel's) connection with the Imperial Cold Storage Company and' the army meat supply contract.
