SPEECH AT PALMERSTOX NORTH.

PALMBRSTON N„ July 29. Informally opening tio new orderly room Of the Manawatu Mounted Rifles to-day Jus Excellency the Governor said that he had always considerable sympathy with the \ oluntoer movement. The Volunteers of New Zealand had proved that they were always ready to assist the Empire in time of need, and though there had in the past been complaints of mismanagement, he knew that the Government was keenly inforested m the movement, and was appreciative of the work done. He knew tho views of the Prime Minister, Mr M'Nab and individual members of the Defence Department, and could say with authority that any suggestions made by officers of various corps to the department through the proper channels would receive genuine consideration.
