The following is the engineer's report, to be submitted at the monthly meeting of the Otago Harbour Board this afternoon:— Dredging.-Drodge 222 is dredging in the Victoria Channel aud in the steamers' basin along the cross wharf berth. During tho month of Juno she lifted 6664 cubic yards. from pile 4, 2266 cubic yards from pile 13, 11,529 cubic yards from pile 25, 784 cubic yards from pilo 29, and 21,892 cubic yards from the ksin.-making a total of 50,215 cubic yards, which were deposited at tho Vulcan and pumped on to tho flat at a combined cost of s£d per cubic yard. Dredge 404 is working in the channel south of Harrington Point. During tho month of July she lifted 80 loads, equal to a total of 21,000 cubic yards; of this 19,500 cubio yards wire deposited at sea, and 450 cubic yards inshore at tho bend south of Harrington Point. Dredge Priestmau is at "present dredging off the end of Jetty street. During the coming week eho will be engaged dredgins the cross wharf berth. During July she removed EB3 cubic yards from the end of tho Victoria wharf, depositing the same at the Vulcan. Heads Quarry Works—Between June 6 and July 4 310 cubic yards were deposited on tho Victoria Channel wall, and 870 cubic yards on tho North Spit wall,—making a total of 10E0 cubic yards for tho month, at a cost of 2s 7d a cubic yard for getting and depositing, and 6d a. cubic yard for towing. Various Works,—The contractor for tho new shed on Jetty street wharf is making satisfactory progress. • The plates and joists are hid in position, and the framing is now being erected. It was found necessary at the south-east corner of the died to increase the foundations by driving three timber piles. The old portion of the cross wharf, between the M and N sheds, lias been redecked and new beams put in. The automatic gauge on the lower end of Rattray . street wharf is being removed into the wharfinger's office. The drain at the I TUvensbourne reclamation is in position, also the discharge pipes. A start will he made to reclaim next month. A new Customs office, to replace the one in between the M and N sheds, cross wharf, has been erected in the II shed.
