DUNEDIN RIFLES

Tho eleventh annual meeting of the Dunodin Rifles was held on Monday evena"B 'n the orderly room at the Garrison Hall. Captain 1\ R. Fordham presided over a good muster of nicmbere. Captain Fordham congratulated the company upon the healthy condition of ils finances and upon the general improvement which had taken place during the past 12 months, due, to a great extent, doubtless, to the improved conditions under which the company was now working. The new orderly room was very popular with members, who were coming* to regard it as a club-room. Tho shooting during ths year had induced keen competition. The company championship was won by Sergeant M'Donald, who shot most consistently and won decisively. In addition, to (he* comipanv competitions, two matches had been fired against the Brute Rifles-one at Hilton and one at Dunedin. Bruce Rifles had won both, but next year lie hoped to see the fables turned. The comnanv had entered teams for the Ladies' Challenge Shield and bugle competition.-;, and bad the honour oF being represented in tho Daily Mail compel it ion by Sergeant M'Donald and Privaie Morrison. Marked improvement, hod been shown in the attendances at parades during the past year. The company was to bo eongratulaled upnn' having been so well represented at tho Easier manreuvres, having the best muster amongst, the companies of the battalion. In conclusion, he iniprcsed upon members the need to be un and doing, so that the , coming year might he even more successful than its predecessor.
