ANNUAL .MEETING.

HAWERA, May 13. The eighth annual conference of the Taranaki Provincial Farmers' Union began to-day, when a long order paper was considered. Remits were adopted as follow: 1. That, no system of land tenure is satisfactory which does not provide for settlers acquiring the freehold.

2. Urging the importation of an adequate supply of efficient labour.

3. Protesting against a member of the Conciliation Ponrd fomenting a dispute and then adjudicating oil same.

4. Opposing preference to .wionists as being arbitrary and hampering to the industry and detrimental to the prosperity of the Dominion.

5. That a determined effort be made to secure full value for the actual benefit to land by improvements other than thoso that are visible.

6. That in the sale of grass seeds and cereals, an implied warranty of purity be given unless specially stated to the contrary.

Other remits are yet to be considered. Mr E. Maxwell was re-elected president.
