(Received April 9, at 9.35 p.m.) Lord Lansdowne, speaking at the Conservative Club, said the Government's bills were tainted with a spirit of vindictiveness and were opposed to the general well-being. The Government's financial policy was likely to bring it to serious grief. He hoped it would learn from the recent bye-eloetions the country's disillusionment. The new Government bad a great chance, The Unionists were willing to deal with education ami temperance on moderate and reasonable lines, and they were ready to examine carefully, but not obstructively, any proposals conceived in a just and moderate spirit.
