Oampbell-Banner-man's resignation, so as to enable it to make tho necessary changes during the Easter recess, but premature revelations necessitated a public announcement and n. consequent loss of 10 days' parliamentary work, Mr Asquith had an hour's interview vfith the King at Biarritz. MR ASQUITH TAKES OFFICE. LONDON, April 9. (Received April 9, at 8.30 p.m.) It' is officially announced that Mr Asquith's resignation as Chancellor of the Exchequer has been accepted. He kissed lira King's hands on liis appointment as Prime Minister and First' Lord of the Treasury.
