THE FLOUR DUTY.
(Pep. United Pbess Association.) AUCKLAND, ■ September 6. The Auckland Flourmillers' Union passed a resolution depressing alarm at tbe proposal, to abolish the-duty on flour, urging the Government not to permit such a monstrous and suicidal policy.
The following protest has been sent to the Minister .of . CustomsWo, tho undersigned bagmakors, view with grave concern the removal of the duty on flour, as it will most seriously affect our trade. Even under present conditions flour is being imnorted in small ba?s from Australia. Over 100 hands will bo aJTccted if it is removed..—Sargood, Son, and Ewen, Bing, Harris,' and Co., Joyce Bros.. Brown, Christcliurch."-.
