OUR ARBITRATION LAW
ENGLISH PRESS OPINIONS. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, September 4. The Pall Mall Gazette' (Conservative) 6ays that tho Labour party in New Zealand evidently thought- that compulsory arbitration would sound very well, but it ivns 'not prepared for its logical conseqncnces.
Tho Manchester Guardian (Liberal) declares that tho Court of Appeal's decision in the slaughtermcn'6 case is sound logic, and equally sound law. Regarding tho statement that a general strike or a-lock-out in defiance of the law is possible, it 6ays that such .flights of fancy might be applied to almost any law/ but there is practically no evidence that such a state of mind exists among the workmen or employers of New Zealand.
