SHIPWRECK RLIEF SOCIETY.

The monthly moetiag.oE the committee of the Shipwreck Roliof Sobiety of Now Zealand was held yesterday afternoon at the office of Messrs' Grace and Wilson, and was attended by Messrs C. :W. ChamberJain, (in tho chair) J. A. Pork, W. A, Moore, G. B. Bulloelc', and Captajn Strang. A Jotter was received from tho' Northern Steamship Company,■ Auckland, in reply to ah application for a donation to', the funds of *he society on account of relief granted to tho crew and passengers of tho Kia Ora, stating that the' company'had already distributed a largo sum, 6omo £240, in con-' flection WJth the crow and passengers. Tho company appreciated tho generosity of tho'sosiety, but under,>tho ciroumetancca could 'not see its ■ way to make a. «k>natioh. _ ' ' j' Captain Fleming, Auckland, wrote in reference to tho scows Surprise and Bravo wrecked in Die north' that ho had granted rolief on behalf of the socictyto the extent of £7. In connection with the samo matter, Alfrod .1. Phillips' wrote, on bohalf of Ilia shipmates and himself in reference to tho Jose of their clothes over tho wreck of tho Bravo, that a par,ty liad swum ashore having nofliing bcyoml their underclothing. on at .the time. .The letter eonthnied :.
