The offer of Mr Ireland to lease the Sawyers' Bay ground for grazing purposes was accopted at' £1 5s per month. Tho secretary was instructed to wrilo to the secretary of tho Caledonian Ground requesting that members of the society. be asked not to use their ground tickets on tho occasion of tho benefit matches on Saturday. Tho Secretary reported that he had seen the city electrical engineer ro the electric lighting of Cnrisbrook. and he thought that the installation could Iks put in at a lowcc figure than that quoted to the committee. Mr Stark would make some experiments on the ground to see how much lighting would be required. It was resolved to purchase a roller for Carisbrook Ground at a cost of about £30. Tho caretaker was granted leave to close Carisbrook for a. month after the sowing of the young grass. THE DISQUALIFICATION DISAGREEMENT. The following letter will bo sent to tho New Zealand Union with reference to tho recent endorsement by it of the New Zealand Association's disqualification of members of the Groon Island Association Club: I am instructed by my committee to acknowledge receipt of the intimation that your union has endowed tho dis.qualification of the New* Zealand Football Association of the members of the Gresn Island (Association) Football Club.

My committee concludes that your union, in endorsing the disqualification, v/ns unaware of _ tho fact that upon the disqualification being notified in the fir3t place by tlhe Otago Football Association to t-he 0.K.F.U., this bedv refused to endorse it. The reasons why my committee could' not see its _ way to endorse tho disqualification aro briefly as follows:—The Maori Hill (Association) ' Club complained to the 0.F.A., at its meeting on June 17, of tbe "disgraceful conduot" of the Green Island foam in a First Grade match, Green IsJand \\ Maori Hill. Ait the following meeting, the Green Island Club protested against tho imputation cast upon its members, and stated that unless an apology were forthcoming before Juno 27, tio Green Island Club would withdraw from all competitions. Tho Toferoe, who officiated at the malch, stated that <lfoe difficulty lay in the fact that (here was so much difference in tho weight of the two teams, and tho association resolved "that 110 evidence 011

which action might bo taken having teen forthcoming, tho O.F.A. can take no further action in"t£e matter.". On July 1 tbe aseocisvtion resolved " that as later- information lwa beenreceived by the association from the Maori Hill Club, ■-which puis a different a?pcct on -the oliaigcs ma<fe, under these conditions tho association is willing to hold a. further inquiry, provided tho hasty resolution passed by tlie Green Island Club bo rocoaisidored, and that olub oyni its loyalty to tho association ' and continue its fixtures until tho matter is finally dealt with." On July 8, the Green Island Club wrote stating that its committee- had tfeci&d that it was im- , necessary to call another meeting, that its motion must stiil be adhered,to, liat it would Ira ot no further use keeping the argument going, as most of its'players had taken to the Rugby game, and would at no price whatever play Association again. The association thereupon decided that as tho Groan .Island Club;wa« wrier the control of ; the O.F.A. until its resignation or secession was accepted, the-whole of lie' club should be disqualified.

'The 0.F.A., in the ordinary course 'of events, notified the disqualification of tho Green Island Club to tho 0.K.F.U., with a request for its endorsement. My committee' decided thai, in view of'airike circumstances and of fcfos fuct that members affected by tho disqualificatin .were already playing Rugby, tho O.F.A, should 1)3 nsfcod for .further information as to the rule under which the G<reen Island Club was disqualified. The O.F.A. relied that it must reserve to itself the , 1° its own way with a olnb which had broken its by-laws. My committee wculd point out that there y^ 3 ?° pending against the Green rftia withdrew from the O.F.A. Further, it would? uTge that no exception can be taken to any club withdrawing from any .association to which it may w> ftifili&lcdi \uiles9 it has infringed some by-law or committed aome offence that has not been Wljudipaled upon by the governing body. My committee - felt that it would be better that the risk should be run of causing a breach of.the arrangement between the O.F.A. and the O.R.F.U. than that an injustice should bo done to tJie members of any club. Herewith I enclose clippiDg from the press reports tn the meetings of the 0.F.A., verifying tho statements oonl&inod in tihe history I have given of . the • proceedings. These report, I iitay add, solely furnished the material upon which my committor acted.

The Alhambra team to play in the Maori benefit, mulch next' Saturday aro r<xjue6ied to meet the Albany Street School Hall at 7.30 this evening for training.

OTAGO FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION. Tho weekly mooting of the Otago Football Association Committee was held last evening in Mr S. S. Myers's rooms, Mr R. H. Stables presiding. A letter was received from tho secretary of the Y.M.C.A. calling attention to the campaign, for raising £17,000 for an up-to-date building, and desiring to learn of tho association's endorsement of the projoct—lt woe decided to assure the Y.M.C.A. that tho association was in hearty sympathy with the movement, and that individual members were assisting with subscriptions and labour.
