THE COMMONWEALTH
MR CARRUTHERS'S INTENTIONS,
Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. SYDNEY, September 2.
Mr Carruthers, the State Premier, says that if he is successful at the elections he will take a referendum on the following:—
1. Whether the country is favourable to the Federal demands in respect to the .capital. '' 2. Whether it is favourable to an equivalent- to tho Braddon clause being provided. ' 3. Whether the State should accept the Commonwealth as now constituted and administered, or take measures to secure a more literal and Constitution; ' If the answer- to tho last question was "No," lie would take it as a warrant to secure a more liberal Constitution. When Sir W. J. Lync and other political traitors knew that- they were the representatives of a- mere insignificant minority in New South Wales they wouklfcbegm to climb down. The State had plenty of friends in Queensland, Western! Australia, and Tasmania,
If they let tho trouble caused by a few n\en who had captured the Commonwealth go on they woukl have to think of revolution.
