HOBART, August 31, (Received Sept. 1, at 4.20 p.m.) In order to enable local timber merchants to fulfil orders received from New Zealand it has been decided to approach the Union Company urging that- greater facilities for the transport of cargoes be granted. It is stated that a.largo quantity of timber is stacked on the wharves awaiting shipment.
September 1, (Received Sept. 2, at 1.7 a.m.)
The timber merchants havo' communicated by cable, with the Union Company in connection with the delays in shipping timber to New Zealand. It is stated that gome of tho merchants are negotiating for outside steamens.
