DAIRY PRODUCE TRADE

WEDDFJ/S ANNUAL REVIEW,

LOWER. PRICES ANTICIPATED,

Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright,

LONDON, August- 31. (Received Sept. 1, at 4,31 p.m.) Messrs Weddel's .innu.il review of tlie produce trade insists upon the necessity of compulsory grading of Australian butler, such as had given New Zealand producers tho choice of either selling forward or consigning.

The report suggests that. New Zealand should increase the marks awarded for flavour to 70 and that the 'marks for texture, colour, and get-up should bo reduced to 20, since portion of the first grade butter is really second! grade owing to faulty flavour. The report also states that there is every indication that large supplies of butter -will be available during the coming winter, but trade is so prosperous that the consumption is certain to be well maintained. Considerably lower prices are, however, expected for butter and cheese than were obtained this year.
