(Per United Press Association.) ASHBURTON, August 29.

During the progress of tho representative football mafoh at Ashburton to-day, between North Canterbury and Ashburton County teame, a player named IT. Jeffries, of Loburn, met with an accident, an<l sustained a broken leg. He collided with an Ashburton player named A. Patterson. Tho play was not rough, and the accident was a puro misadventure.

While loading raite in a railway truck at Kensington yesterday, Joseph Wilwn had thrco of his fingere badly smashed. Wilson was admitted to tho Duncdin Hospital, where it was found neoeesu-y to amputate one of the injnred fingers at the first joint.
