. CHRISTCHUROH, August 29. Tho sitting of the Arbitration Court wa« raumcil this morning. The NoVth Cantorbury Slaughtermen's Assistants' Industrial Union cited a number of employers and aslccd for an award. Tho representatives of the companies anti the union agreed to accept tho Gisbonio award, subject to the inclusion cf conditions relating to holidays included in the slaughtermen's award. Tho clauso relating to wages was niado retrospective, to date from February 19. Tho award will have a currency of' two years from September 30 next. The decision of tho court in tlie dispute Gas Stokcre and Colters' Union v. Christclmrch Gas Board was filed with the cleric of awards to-day. The week's work is to consist of six shifts of eight hours each, and a Sun-day shift of 12 hours from midnight on Saturday to midnight on Sunday. Wages for stokers are to bo not less than 0s 3d for an eight-hour shift, and Iβ 2d per hour for Sunday shifts. Overtime, at timo and a-quarter for the first four hours, and timo and a-half thereafter. Double time on Labour Day, Christmas Day, Boxing Day,,,. Now ■ Year's Day, Good Friday, King's and Prince of Walos's Birthdays. Tho number of retorts to be charged in any ono shift not to exceed 19. Twentyfour hours' notice to bo given on either sido, and preference of employment to be givon to unionists. The freezers' award, whioh also came to hand to-day, fixes the day's work at sight hours in any 24. Tho wages to be Is 3d per hour; overtime, Is scf; double time on Christmas Day and Good Friday, and timo and a-half on other holidays; waiting timo (o bo avoided as far as' possible. Provision is made for the payment of uiuler-rato workers, and the usual preference clauso is inserted.
