At their rooms yesterday Messrs Park, Reynolds, and Co. submitted two freehold properties to auction, both ot which loiuid purchasers, after spirited bidding. Lot 1, being allotments 38 and 80, Gladstone, with five-roomed dwelling thereon, fell to tho bid of Mr Anderson at £340. Lot 2 boin» part section 73, block XXYII, Dunedin, was knocked down for £il 'to Mr Walker, »8 agont.

SPRING SALE OP HORSES.

°*"g° Formers , Co-operative Association of Jiov Zetland (Limited) reports:—We hold our annual spring horse sale at our bazaar on Thursday, August 29, when vo had an entry of 137 horEOs, comprising heavy draughts/ vanners, plough mares and geldings, spring-carters, and a few light harness horses. Wo had consignments from Lawronco. Eltrick, Wailwo Downs, Waikouaiti, Balclutlia, Milton, Titri, Maungatua, Wost Taiori, Waitali, mi several othor districts. Messrs Brown Bros' waggon team of eight splendid mares and geldings, which were in lino working condition, and with the exception of two or three, were all young, sound good cutty sorts, which had been carefully selected by tho vendors for their own special work, found uew owners «t very satisfactory prices, realising from f.lO to £30. The older horses were, not in such good demand, nnd prices offered not being equal to vendors' estimate ot values were passed in. Mr Spillano's team was mado up of li»ht sorts, but all nico handy useful mares and geldings, suitab'o lor either town or farm work. A few ot these were also passed at auction, offerings not coining up to Mr Spillimo'e values. A large numbor ot really good marcj and geldings wcro offered, and a. very satisfactory proportion of the whole entry of young useful sorts went to fresh stables at prices fully equal to recont quotations. The asJe, on tho whole, although a little slow, was very successful, and exceeded our totioue.- Our auction will be continued' (his morning, whon a number of heavy and light horaes will bo offered. The feature of ihe sale was Mr Duncan M'Donald's pure Clydcs:<lalo mare Duchess of Glasgow, sired by Hord Laddie, dam Duchess of Glasgow under keen competition.
