NEW YORK July 1. A Virginian jury acquitted ex-Judge Loring on a charge of killing Theodore Estes in April last when his daughter declared that lie had drugged and assaulted her. The "unwritten law" is the law of private vengeance by which a husband has the right to kill a man. whom ho suspects of paying attentions to his wife or dauprhter. It is hot a principle recognised in English law—least of all when llio deed is not -committed in hot blood.
