THE SOUTHERN RESERVE.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—The above reserve lias been a source of great annoyance to the ijcsidenla of IJiu neighbourhood for the past few .years, caused through the method adopted Jii filling it up with the city garbage. What- I now wish to point out to the 18 councillors, and particularly to those represoiilmir South Ward, is iho unsatisfactory state of that portion of the " park " which lias recently been sown down- with , grass at groat expense through the ploughing, harrowing, and rolling taking about a month to do with a man and two horses. It has, the present month, been cut up through the negligence of the authorities in allowing football and hockey to bo played without restraint. There would be Jio complaint about these game* being played if the had a chance to grow and "set," but this it cannot do under present conditions—conditions which givo tlio ground n patchy appearancc.—l am, otc., June 26.
