HARBOUR BOARD REPORTS.

The following reports will bo presented at to-day'.! meeting of the Harbour Board:— In the matter of A. E. Usherwood'a application for a section in the vicinity of Morgan's baths, the Reserves Committee wilt recommend that Mr Usherwood be granted section 9, block LXX, formerly applied foa by him, or a section in the vicinity of Morgan's baths, for the purposo of oil blending. The committee Togrets, however, that owing to the conditions under which the board's leases ars issued it cannot adviso the granting of a lease for soap-making. The Works Committee will submit tho offer of James Palmer to supply material for filling-ill the land at the mouth of tho Water of Union street, at tho rate of 7d per cubio yard for the consideration of the board under the conditions that measurements of quantities be made after thi material has been deposited, the board reserving tho right to stop the work, when it pleases. Payments amounting to £2707 16a arc recommended. The Engineer will Tepert that dredge 223 is dredging between piles 14 and ,15, Viotoria, channel, and in the stoamors basin opposite the Jetty street wharf. On the 17th hist, a start was mado to work the dredge continuously (Sundays excepted) in three shifta, whiolii is so far giving satisfactory results. During tho month of May dredgo 222 lifted 33' leads (31,G0t cubio yards) from the steamers' basin, and 32 loads (18,326 cubio yards) from the Victoria cliajmol, making a total of 00 loads, or 49.950 cubio yards, which were deposited at tho Vulcan and pumpod on to tho flat at a total combined oost for wages, stores, v and repairs of about 5d per cubio yard. Tho half tide wall, Victoria ohanjiel, is beini; built up whore broken down. Up to the present 600 cubic yards of stone from' the Heads quarry have been punted and deposited in tho gaps. The walls at Eavensbourno and along tho frontara to the area being reclaimed north of tho Viotoria wharf arc buildup as material offers. The approaoh to _ tho eastern end of the Viotoria wharf i 3 being extended as material offers. The slipway at the end of Fredcriok street, for the use of the board's plant, is almost completed. A start has been mado with jtha outer sheet piling' along tho frontage oC Kitchener streot. The wall on the spit, opposite Harrington Point, i 3 now awash at low water. Between tho 10th May and the Bttl Juno, 1590 cubic were deposited on this wall, and 450 cubic yards on the half tidrwall, Viotoria channel, at a cost of 3a 2d per cubic yard. Throo piles woro renewed in the Victoria channel and sundry ropaira effected to the wharves and shed?. The roadway, Jetty street, has been brought up to level and ia now in the hands of the City Corporation for forming and metalling. The triangular plantation at tho intersection of Wharf and Jetty streets is now recommended for removal in order to mako room for tho increasing traffic. It is suggested that the plants and trees thereon be offered to the City Counoil for removal.
