ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
A young man named Jaiuo.i Cavanagh, in the employ of Mossre Trcasey ami M'Lcod, road contractors, lawrence, sustained a fracture of tho left leg above tho anklo the other evening. Ho was driving n three-hor?o team with a loatl of chaff, when he was thrown off, one of tho wheels of tho dray passing over hi 9 leg. Ho was removed to tho Lawronco Hospital. A mail named Allan Macintosh, 62 years °J employed >n the Deep Stream Sluicing Company's olaim, dropped dead at his work on Monday afternoon. Only a fortnight ago ho wont from Lawrence, where his family reside, to work in the claim. An inquest will bo hold. Mr Macintosh was one of' tho gold mining pioneers, and was well known and respected all over the district. Tho Tuapeka Times stares that a painfully suddon death occurred at Tuapoka Mouth on Tuesday week. During that afternoon Robert Nehoff, aged fivo years, tflio was apparently suffering from tho prevailing colic epidemic, was sent homo from school, and, having been given a home remedy, was put to bed, and died within an hour.
