ARBITRATION ACT.

$ PROPOSED AMENDMENT;

(Per United Press Association.) AUCKLAND, April 23. Interviewed yesterday in regard to the proposed amendment of the 'Arbitration Act, the Hon. .1. A. Millar said: "I will introduce an amending bill, the object of which will be to facilitate the settlement of disputes within a few days of their being filed. Tlio exact nature of this amendment I am not yef, prepared to state. Then I desire to make the arbitration law entirely self-contained, so that all cases for punishment will be dealt with by the Arbitration Court alone. This will prevent recourse to the Supreme Court, as was dono in the case of the slaughtermen's strike. This strike proved that the law was an eflieient one, but. I consider it desirable that it elipuld bo entirely selfcontained. Certain other amendments, which I cannot yet specify, will also be proposed."
