SEVERE CONFLICTS WITH THR

LONDON, April 27.
(Received April 27, 6,8 p.m.) Following the coal heavers' strike. riota at Port Castries, in the Island of Saint Lucia, which the Governor of the : Windward Islands; settled after a. number o£ tho police and several private persons \had been wounded, the sugar labourers) at Roseau, in Dominica, rioted and burnt a great deal of sugar cane. The police, while holding a, factory against the rioters on Wednesday, killed'or wounded 19.
The Governor of tho Windward Islands then arrived and induced tho attackers to accompany him and his (secretary to Roseau, where ho quietened thorn and tile rest of the malcontents.
The strikers in tho Dinnery district on Thursday inarched to Castries. The Riot Act was read and order maintained;
Police drafts are expected from Bavliadoes and St. Vincent, and the cruiser Indefatigable has been ordered to proceed to Castries. A Dutch warship .is in the harbour.
As the rioters were again turbulent yesterday, a Volunteer detachment with'a Maxim was sent from Barbadoes.
COAL LUMPERS' STRIKE,
SYDNEY, April 27. The coal lumpers' delegates attended a meeting of tho Newcastle Wharf Labourers' Union, who informally decided to assist tho local lumpers to tlio extent of refusing to ,load vessels which usually coal at Sydney.

The Nirau completed coaling by 11011- V union labour and sailed for Auckland last night.
