CLAIM FOR EXPENSES.
(I'er United Press Association.) AUCKLAND, April 26. In connection with the Town Hall plans, a letter was jieceivc.l by the City Council from iMr A. If. Byron, Wellington, applying for expenses for gelling out plans for competitive designs. According to tho conditions of the council's pamphlet, no plan was to exceed an eslimate of £60,000, and no plan was to be noticed if the contract. pxcwdcil the sum mentioned. He got out his plans to suit that price, and obtained a- tender from the bf'.=t, iirm in New Zealand. The council had taken a plan (hat would cost £105,868, thus laving itself open for the exnenses for all the plans not cxceediticc £60.0(10. If hi* expenses (£65) were not paid he threatened lo take legal action. The Mayor moved that the application bo declined. There was. ho said, no justification for it, The motion was carried.
