THE FAMINE IN CHINA.

Sra,-Pcrmit mo a little stiaco to'enlargeon Ihc awfu famine raging in China.- Your paper was the first in the colony fo tab up this humanitarian cause, and through its' circulation donations have come in from all quarters. These I append, but would like to refer to some, as it might bo an inducement for others to contribute likewise. 1. Bible classes might help. The Caversuiim lresbytonan class has set an example here. N ' 2. Sunday Scliools might, give one day's contribution. St. Andrew's did so, and the result was £7 Us 4d, which by the librarians was increased to £10. 3. No Christian Edcavour has yet taken this matter up. Of course, individuals havo responded splendidly. 4. Could not, all our' congregations giro one day's collection? This is not a'sectarian matter. It is tho cause of humanity. 5. The students of the Training-Institute, under Mrs Blackic, havo sent £3 ss. Tho Students' Union at the University might hear tho call. Finally, I would say, "Don't underrate this famine." Almost ono million must perish if help is not sent." All subscriptions lire sent through tho China Inlaw! Mission. The Hev. A. Don is actively interested in this cause, and many friends are sending to him.

To all who have helped, and to these who will yot do so, I would, on behalf of the anxious toilers in that faminb and plajucstriekon district of far-off China, tender heartfelt gratitude.—l atn, etc., Dundin, April 9.
